Head of Technology Delivery – Aztec Group
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Technology Delivery to lead and scale our technology delivery team. This Associate Director level role is pivotal in driving high-performance delivery teams, advancing Scaled Agile delivery, and ensuring delivery excellence across all technology initiatives. You will oversee the end-to-end delivery lifecycle, ensure governance, and continuously improve delivery performance. You will have direct line management responsibility for an existing team of project managers.
Responsibilities
* Own the delivery roadmap and ensure timely, high-quality execution of technology projects and programs.
* Define and implement best practices, frameworks, and standards for delivery management.
* Monitor and report on delivery KPIs, driving continuous improvement in velocity, quality, and customer satisfaction.
* Plan and manage resources to ensure projects are staffed with appropriate skills, including in-house and near-shore vendor teams.
* Estimate and forecast costs to deliver outcomes, informing project, programme, and departmental budgets.
Performance & Governance
* Set out our Agile Strategy and Governance frameworks, embed Scaled Agile principles across teams, and promote flexible, transparent, iterative delivery.
* Drive agile maturity through coaching, training, and hands-on support.
* Establish and maintain governance structures for compliance, risk management, and stakeholder visibility.
* Lead regular delivery reviews, retrospectives, and performance assessments.
* Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and compliance standards, particularly in the finance industry.
* Stay up to date on trends in project delivery and agile methodologies, exploring innovative uses of technology, automation, and AI.
* Develop and present business cases to socialise benefits and secure funding.
Strategic Leadership
* Simplify complexity and develop a clear delivery strategy.
* Drive the Big Picture from strategy to execution and align operational plans accordingly.
* Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand needs and concerns.
* Monitor external trends, regulatory and economic factors, incorporating them into delivery planning.

Skills and Experience
* 10+ years in a senior technology delivery leadership role, ideally in a complex, fast-paced environment within the finance industry.
* 10+ years of direct line management experience with a track record of driving performance and career development.
* 15+ years delivering complex projects and programs on time, within budget, and to quality standards using agile methodologies.
* Strong vendor management experience with global system integrators and delivery partners.
* Excellent communication; able to articulate clearly at all levels and adapt style to the audience.
* Strong background in agile delivery methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban, etc.). Experience leading greenfield agile departments through a transition to Enterprise Scaled Agile.
* Deep understanding of delivery metrics, governance frameworks, and performance management.
* Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar.
