 
        
        Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for an experienced project manager to support a portfolio of decarbonisation projects across the North East. Role Overview
As a Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of projects from inception through to commissioning, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage project risks, and act as the primary interface with clients to drive successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Own the project lifecycle from development opportunity through to completion, ensuring all milestones and deliverables are achieved.
Provide leadership and guidance to internal and external project teams.
Serve as the main client interface for project progress, coordination, and technical updates.
Manage a portfolio of projects ranging from £100k feasibility studies to £30m energy performance contracts.
Maintain project documentation in line with document control and governance processes.
Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring resources and milestones are aligned across multiple projects.
Identify, record, and manage project risks, implementing mitigation strategies where required.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including planning, building control, environmental permitting, fire, and electrical regulations.
Monitor project budgets and financial performance, including cost control, variations, and opportunity management.
Coordinate with procurement, design, and construction teams to ensure smooth project execution.
Resolve project issues and conflicts, providing timely solutions to maintain project progress.
Support the development of client opportunities for additional work and formal proposals.
Report project status, risks, and escalations to the regional Project Director or senior management.
Oversee construction activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of project works.
Ensure high-quality project outcomes that meet client expectations and contractual obligations.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential:
Proven project management experience in a construction, M&E, or energy project delivery environment.
Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and external consultants/subcontractors.
Hands-on experience delivering projects from conception to completion, ideally with large-scale energy systems (heat pumps, boilers, CHP, chillers, HVAC).
Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, including planning, building control, fire, environmental, and electrical requirements.
Familiarity with energy efficiency measures and sustainability initiatives.
Budget management, cost control, and commercial awareness.
Strong risk management skills and ability to implement mitigation strategies.
Desirable:
Formal project management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent).
Experience managing multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of project scheduling tools (Primavera P6, MS Project) and document control systems
