The Opportunity Our client is currently seeking a talented and driven Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our client's industry-leading building services team. Your duties and responsibilities will be
Producing detailed electrical design calculations, sketches, and specifications in line with project requirements.
Collaborating with engineers and technicians to ensure coordinated and accurate drawings.
Supporting the survey, design, specification, and contract administration stages of various projects, working closely with an Electrical Associate.
Undertaking a blend of office-based design work, project administration, site visits, and surveys.
Leading the electrical design of building services systems for both new builds and refurbishment projects.
Contributing to feasibility studies and participating in concept and scheme design development.
Attending design team and project coordination meetings.
Inspecting and reporting on existing electrical building services installations.
Using relevant Building Services software tools to carry out design calculations and performance analysis.
Ensuring all designs comply with current health, safety, and legislative requirements.
Producing marked-up drawings or directing CAD technicians to prepare detailed design drawings.
Selecting and specifying products, equipment, and installation standards suitable for contractor pricing and implementation.
Collaborating with multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver integrated design solutions.You will have the following qualifications & experience
To be successful in this role, you will likely possess:
A degree (or equivalent qualification) in Electrical Engineering.
Experience aligned with the requirements for Incorporated Engineer status with IET or CIBSE.
A strong understanding of electrical building services design principles from concept through to detailed stages (BSRIA BG6 Stage 4A).
Low voltage distribution systems (to BS7671)
Internal, external, and emergency lighting (CIBSE Lighting Guides)
Small and fixed power systems
Power supplies for mechanical services
Fire alarm and detection systems
ICT structured cabling and associated containment systems
Proficiency in using Amtech for electrical design calculations.
The ability to read, interpret, and review design drawings in AutoCAD.
Knowledge of Building Regulations, particularly Part L compliance.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and relevant building services design software.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present and explain complex concepts clearly.
