About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated, skilled, and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our night team at Durham Careline in Hartlepool. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a busy and dynamic complex care environment, supporting adults with a wide range of needs including acquired brain injuries, neurological conditions, mental health needs, and physical disabilities.
As a Night Nurse, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and clinical care of our service users during out-of-hours periods. You will be responsible for overseeing the unit, making autonomous clinical decisions, and maintaining high standards of care in a fast-paced and often unpredictable environment.
This role is ideally suited to a Nurse who thrives in complex care settings, is confident working independently at night, and is passionate about delivering person-centred care that makes a meaningful difference.
Key Responsibilities
As a Nurse with Durham Careline you will:
* Deliver safe, effective, and holistic nursing care based on comprehensive assessments and individual needs
* Take clinical responsibility for the service during night shifts, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all residents
* Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate person-centred care plans and interventions
* Monitor and respond promptly to changes in residents' physical and mental health, escalating concerns where appropriate
* Safely administer, review, and manage medications in line with best practice and regulatory requirements
* Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed clinical documentation and records
* Ensure clinical areas, treatment rooms, and equipment are maintained to high standards of cleanliness and infection prevention
* Lead, support, and supervise the care team, providing guidance and direction throughout the shift
* Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team (MDT), contributing to care reviews and handovers
* Promote safeguarding, dignity, respect, and independence for all service users
* Respond effectively to incidents, emergencies, and challenging situations in a calm and professional manner
* Ensure compliance with NMC Code of Conduct, organisational policies, and all relevant legislation and standards
What You'll Need
* Registered Nurse qualification (RGN, RMN, or RNLD)
* Current, valid NMC registration
* Minimum of 1 year's post-registration experience (experience within complex care highly desirable)
* Demonstrable experience or confidence in managing complex clinical needs
* A strong commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work independently, make sound clinical decisions, and prioritise effectively in a busy environment
* A proactive, resilient, and compassionate approach to care
* Leadership skills with the ability to support and motivate a team during night shifts
