We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Research Nurse/ResearchPractitioner to support the delivery of clinical research within our practice.
You will play a key role insupporting our participation in a wide range of primary care research studies,working closely with clinicians and external research networks such as the NIHRClinical Research Network. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved inimproving patient care and contributing to the development of evidence-basedpractice.
Main duties of the job
You will work as part of the primary care team to support the safe, effective, and ethical delivery of research studies within the practice.
We are looking for someone with excellent organisational and communication skills, who is methodical and passionate about research in healthcare. Prior experience in research is desirable but not essentialwe welcome applications from nurses or other registered healthcare professionals (e.g. paramedic, pharmacist) who are interested in developing a career in clinical research and are willing to undergo training.

Job responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
* Coordinate and support the set-up and delivery of research studies at the practice
* Screen and recruit eligible patients in line with study protocols and ethical guidelines
* Obtain informed consent from participants and ensure documentation is compliant
* Collect and manage study data accurately and securely
* Liaise with research sponsors, study teams and the NIHR Clinical Research Network
* Ensure all activity complies with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), research governance, and Information Governance standards
* Attend relevant meetings and training sessions as needed
* Promote research awareness within the practice and help embed research in routine care
Administration and Professional responsibilities:
* Maintain annual registration with the NMC or Health and Care Professions Council, and adhere to the code of professional conduct
* Maintain accurate patient records in line with NMC standards of record keeping, using READ codes to ensure accurate retrieval of information for monitoring and audit purposes
* Organise and prioritise own workload and manage effectively, being adaptable to deal with emergency situations when needed
* Act always in a way to protect the confidentiality of patients and maintain the integrity of the patient/health carer relationship.
* Demonstrate knowledge and apply principles of Information Governance
* Work effectively as a member of a team, maintaining a caring environment through the support of colleagues

Training and personal development:
* Maintain own continuous professional development and personal development plan
* Participate in annual appraisal
* Ensure required standards for revalidation are met
* Assess effectiveness of care delivery through self-reflection and peer review, as well as benchmarking and formal evaluation.
* Participate in the education and training of students of all disciplines and the introduction of all members of the practice staff where appropriate
* Complete mandatory training requirements to include CPR, anaphylaxis, immunisation, cytology, safeguarding, information governance
* Attend study days, courses and complete e-learning as required to maintain safe standards of practice and ensure high quality care
* Participate in clinical supervision

* Demonstrate knowledge and application of principles of Health and Safety in the work place: to include fire, infection control, COSHH, cold chain procedures as per practice policy
* Assist in promoting and maintaining own and others health, safety and security as defined in the Practice Health & Safety Policies
* Identify the risks involved in work activities and undertake such activities in a way that manages those risks
* Identify and report significant events, following procedures related to professional standards
Use appropriate infection control procedures, maintain work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards - clean cupboards and restock as per schedule

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (NMC) or other registered healthcare professional (e.g. paramedic, physiotherapist, pharmacist) or experienced Clinical Research Practitioner
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Excellent organisational and time-management abilities
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Computer literacy and willingness to use clinical systems (e.g. EMIS Web)
* Willingness to undertake GCP training and relevant research training
* Previous experience in research or clinical trials
* Knowledge of research governance and ethical requirements
* Experience working in a primary care or GP setting
