As part of Nationwide's exciting and growing team of Cloud Platform Engineers, you'll have a SRE (Site Reliability Engineer) mindset, with the ability to act like a Developer and think like a Systems Operator. Our engineers are responsible for the delivery of Cloud technical solutions for assigned missions, alongside providing consultancy and support services as required. What you'll be doing
1. Take charge in building and managing scalable, self-healing, globally distributed cloud platforms.
2. Lead and influence architectural design decisions of network solutions, features and fixes, ensuring robust connectivity between on-premise and cloud environments.
3. Oversee DNS configurations and VPN connectivity, ensuring secure and reliable network access.
4. Configure and manage Egress and East/West firewalls, familiarity with Palo Alto and Cisco technologies is beneficial.
5. Configure AWS Transit gateways attachments and routing between multiple AWS Accounts using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), e.g., Terraform.
6. Drive efficiency, automation, and cost reduction by automating manual and repetitive tasks.
7. Develop features and codified artefacts for platform improvements leveraging automation and infrastructure as code.
8. Provide technical expertise throughout all stages of the product lifecycle.
9. Create and adhere to standards and provide governance to contribute to process improvement.
10. Identify and escalate dependencies, risks, and exceptions that will affect the implementation of technical artefacts.
11. Proactively troubleshoot network issues and provide effective solutions. Must be able to diagnose problems across the network stack and collaborate on resolution.
12. Collaborate with architecture, security, and engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of network solutions within our infrastructure.
About you
We are seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer with a foundation in networking and a passion for problem-solving.
You will be a skilled Cloud Networking Engineer with experience or transferable skills supporting our 4C's (Cloud, Containerisation, Coding, CI/CD).
This includes:
* Designing and implementing Cloud platforms (AWS) for elasticity and scalability.
* Infrastructure as code and post-deployment configuration management knowledge, using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
* Automating deployment and monitoring of services in Public Cloud.
* Implementing changes/improvements to production services, ensuring uptime.
* Analyzing network traffic and developing security policies.
* Deep understanding of routing principles, including on-premise to cloud routing and vice versa, ensuring efficient data flow and resolving routing issues.
* Familiarity with cloud networking, particularly AWS (VPCs, Security Groups, NACLs, AWS Network Firewall), and hybrid environments is preferred.
