Randstad Education is seeking compassionate and skilled Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants for flexible supply roles in specialist and mainstream schools across Leeds. This is a vital role where you can provide targeted support to students, helping them to overcome barriers and thrive in their educational environment.
The Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be instrumental in providing tailored support to students with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. Working on a 1:1 or small group basis, you will be key to helping students integrate, learn, and achieve their personal goals.
Your Responsibilities will include:
* Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
* Providing dedicated support to students with specific learning, behavioural, or physical needs.
* Fostering an inclusive, supportive, and safe learning environment.
* Using positive de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviour effectively.
* Monitoring, recording, and reporting on student progress and engagement.
What We Are Looking For:
* Prior experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs is essential.
* A genuine understanding of and empathy for the challenges faced by students with SEND.
* A patient, resilient, and nurturing personality.
* Excellent communication skills for collaborating with staff, parents, and external agencies.
* Any additional training, such as Team Teach or Makaton, is highly advantageous.
* An enhanced DBS check on the update service or a willingness to apply for one.
