The Opportunity
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Assistant Geotechnical Engineer / Geotechnical Engineer to join our Amey Consulting team in Edinburgh/ Perth Scotland. Our Amey Consulting Scotland Team is involved in designing some of the largest civil engineering and associated infrastructure projects across Scotland with cumulative values in excess of £1bn.
The Role
Our Assistant Geotechnical Engineer / Geotechnical Engineer will play an important part in delivering geotechnical engineering projects for our clients across the UK, The Republic of Ireland and internationally.
Duties
* Take responsibility for discreet geotechnical investigation and design deliverables, as well as providing support to the Senior Engineers within the design team.
* Assisting in the planning and execution of desk studies and ground investigations.
* Assisting in the development of outline and detailed designs, supporting a wider multidisciplinary team and assisting in the implementation of innovative design solutions.
* Complying with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation particularly CDM regulations.
* Carrying out site visits, surveys, inspections and construction supervision.
* Supporting development of Graduate Engineers, Degree Apprentices and Technicians.
What You Will Bring To Us
* BSc, BEng, MEng, or MSc in an appropriate ground engineering related subject (geotechnical/geological science or Civil Engineering + Geotechnics or equivalent).
* Working towards, Chartered or Incorporated status as defined by the Engineering Council, Geological Society of London or another relevant professional body.
* A proven ability to work within a team environment with a dedicated approach to meet project deadlines.
* Experience as a Graduate Engineer or equivalent with enthusiasm to learn and develop technical skills.
* Ability to contribute to the production of technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements, working under supervision.
* Previous experience of using relevant Geotechnical design software and enthusiasm to learn new skills.
* An appreciation of technical governance procedures and how they are applied within a consulting engineering environment.
* Experience in undertaking project related tasks associated with health, safety and welfare, e.g. Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
