An exciting opportunity has arisen with Durham County Council to join our well established ‘in house’ Occupational Health Service in making a positive contribution towards workplace health and wellbeing. The team provides a SEQOHS accredited Occupational Health Service to Council employees and external contracts including Academies, local public sector organisations and Fire and Rescue Services, based in Meadowfield, Durham. Durham County Council is the largest Council in the North-East and has over 16,000 employees. WHAT IS INVOLVED This is a rewarding and diverse role, ideally suited to an ambitious individual, who is looking for an exciting opportunity. To carry out the role effectively you will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with a professional and enthusiastic approach to developing new skills and working relationships. The successful candidate will provide a specialist physiotherapy service to employees and contribute to the provision of an effective and efficient proactive Occupational Health Service (OHS) in accordance with the relevant professional competencies and DCC standards. The role involves delivering evidence based musculoskeletal assessment and treatment, ergonomic assessments and providing advice on workplace adjustments to employees and managers as part of the Occupational Health Team. The successful candidate will also work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary clinical team to provide appropriate fitness for work advice to Managers. Contributing to the Councils Better Health at Work agenda, collaborating with individual services within the council to support DCC to achieve a healthier workforce. Due to the nature of this role, the work will involve some working at alternative workplaces in County Durham. Working as part of an established Occupational Health Team offers the opportunity to work autonomously, whilst having the support of the Occupational Health Service Manager and Occupational Health Physician with regular clinical supervision and CPD opportunities. There is also an opportunity for an element of home working within this role. This role is full-time, however part-time would be considered for the right applicant. WHAT WILL I NEED You will need HCPC registration and BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy. Please refer to the attached person specification for the full criteria.
