Research Associate in Bioinformatics and Genetics

We are looking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Bioinformatics to lead on the analysis and interpretation of multiomic data in the context of cardiac disease. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will define genetic risk factors for integrative risk modelling with imaging data, develop data driven approaches for population segmentation, and work with complex multi-omic datasets in diverse disease groups. You will work across multiple research workstreams encompassing knowledge graphs, proteogenomics, genotype-phenotype taxonomies and GWAS, playing a central role in bridging genomic discovery with clinical and imaging insights.


What you would be doing

The post-holder will lead on developing bioinformatics and data science approaches in UK Biobank and other repositories. You will develop GWAS and rare variant analyses, perform functional annotation and also modelling of associated metabolomic / proteomic datasets. You will have proven experience in genomic analysis and be comfortable using DNAnexus or similar platforms.

The post-holder will collaborate closely with data scientists within the team to build integrative models combining imaging and biological data. As a key contributor to the group's research aims, you will be expected to work effectively across disciplines, lead on writing papers using novel methods, and collaborate on manuscripts with broader applications to health science.


What we are looking for

* A PhD in genetics / bioinformatics or a closely related discipline with evidence of relevant research achievements
* Experience of performing GWAS and functional annotation
* Strong background in data science and running analysis pipelines
* Keen interest in understanding the drivers of cardiovascular disease
