About the Role
My client is seeking a highly capable and detail-oriented Assistant Financial Controller to join our finance function. This role is integral to ensuring the integrity of financial reporting and compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will lead on technical accounting matters, including IFRS 9 derivative accounting, balance sheet substantiation, statutory reporting, and the design and implementation of robust financial controls.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Accounting
* Lead the application and oversight of IFRS 9 requirements, including derivative and cash flow hedge accounting.
* Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of financial information in compliance with IFRS, including lease and tax accounting standards.
* Act as a subject matter expert, providing technical accounting guidance across the finance function.
* Manage engagement with external auditors, ensuring appropriate documentation and support for all technical accounting positions.
Balance Sheet Integrity and Substantiation
* Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual balance sheet reconciliations.
* Ensure timely identification, investigation, and resolution of reconciling items.
* Maintain robust supporting documentation to substantiate all balance sheet positions, leveraging external evidence where appropriate.
Statutory Reporting
* Lead the preparation and submission of statutory financial statements in accordance with local regulatory requirements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
* Coordinate with external auditors throughout the statutory reporting and audit process.
* Support the ongoing development of statutory reporting in response to emerging standards, including IFRS S1 and S2.
Financial Controls and Governance
* Design, implement, and continuously enhance financial controls to safeguard company assets and ensure reporting integrity.
* Conduct periodic reviews of financial processes and control frameworks to identify and mitigate risks.
* Ensure full compliance with internal policies, governance standards, and external regulatory requirements.
