Associate Director – Manchester, £72,000 - £79,000 per annum 37 hours per week Permanent We are currently recruiting for an experienced Associate Director to lead on the delivery of large, strategic infrastructure projects across the North West. This is a hybrid role, based from our clients private office in Manchester city centre. The successful candidate will act as the lead Project Manager on behalf of Local Authority clients, managing complex multi-agency schemes and building long-term client relationships. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of project development, from concept through to delivery, ensuring projects are strategically positioned to secure government funding and achieve required outputs. Responsibilities Acting as the lead client representative for Local Authorities on major infrastructure projects. Managing the full project lifecycle: feasibility, planning, risk management, programme and budget control. Leading large multi-disciplinary teams, including consultants, contractors, and council departments. Chairing steering groups, working groups, and key project meetings. Drafting consultant briefs, leading procurement processes, and managing consultant fees. Developing and writing governance documentation, funding bids, and project business cases (HM Treasury 5 Case Model). Liaising with public sector officers, statutory stakeholders, landowners, funders, and community groups. Ensuring compliance with planning, land acquisition, procurement legislation, and governance procedures. Building strong client relationships and securing repeat business.The ideal candidate will have experience and/or a strong working knowledge of: Leading large strategic infrastructure projects in a public sector-led environment. Project governance, funding streams, and bidding processes. Programme and project planning, risk management, and financial control. The planning process, land acquisition (including CPO), and statutory requirements (WebTAG, DMRB etc.). Bid writing and business case development. Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills. Managing relationships with senior public sector officers, government funders, and statutory stakeholders. NEC and JCT contracts.Desired qualifications: RICS, NEC accreditation (or equivalent).
