Legal Costs Negotiator - Manchester / Birmingham
I’m working with a top-tier national law firm known for its expertise in insurance litigation and strong client partnerships. As part of the firm’s established Costs department, they’re now looking to recruit a Costs Negotiator to join their Clinical Negligence team.
In this role, you’ll handle a caseload of costs matters from instruction through to settlement or assessment. You’ll be responsible for reviewing files, preparing and negotiating costs strategies, drafting Points of Dispute, and engaging in early settlement discussions to secure savings for clients. The role also involves advising both internal teams and insurer clients throughout the lifecycle of a case.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone confident managing their own caseload and experienced in negotiating costs on high-value and complex clinical negligence matters.
The Candidate
* Strong experience handling and negotiating costs in clinical negligence or similar complex litigation
* Proficient in drafting Points of Dispute and responding to replies
* Able to develop and implement effective costs strategies early in the case lifecycle
* Comfortable managing a caseload using a case management system
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including confident telephone negotiation
* Well-organised and able to meet key deadlines and billing targets
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
* High level of attention to detail and decision-making ability under pressure
* Previous advocacy experience desirable, but not essential
