Job Description
This Sales Manager role is a hybrid role – in the office a couple of days per week if not visiting customers. The Business Development Manager role will focus on growth through our existing and expanding distributor/wholesale business, while also developing new business with major and smaller consumer/ professional brands manufacturing bespoke own/private label products. You will work with R&D to modify and create new product developments for custom requirements, and we are investing in internal R&D to take new products to market.
Key Responsibilities
* Hybrid role split between home office and manufacturing site in South Derbyshire
* Support and mentor two existing experienced sales professionals
* Develop sales through existing accounts and follow client leads
* Leverage relationships with businesses to open doors into sister & competitor companies and divergent sectors
* Follow new leads from marketing, referrals and new website
Person Specification
* Proven track record of sales, account management and business development success in chemical products (cleaning, hygiene, janitorial, industrial, automotive markets)
* Experience of selling through distribution and to end users
* Skilled at developing existing relationships with key accounts
* Credible in selling a technical product from a features, benefits, applications perspective rather than chemical makeup
* Strong, independent and driven sales professional who works to margins, not just turnover, with strategic business development capacity
* Able to sell at a variety of levels up to C‑suite meetings, discussing specifications of new products
* Exposure to own/private label is an advantage
About the Company
Well established (almost 40 years) SME with a great reputation and big name clients as a specialist manufacturer of own‑label chemical products. Our turnover has doubled over the last few years and we have just taken on a new manufacturing site – we are growing!
Prospects
There is a genuine path to the Sales Director role within a reasonable timeframe, and the potential to grow a team as the role and company expand.

It is highly likely you will have worked in roles such as Sales Manager, Business Development Manager, Key Account Manager, Technical Sales Manager in chemicals, consumer goods, own‑label, hygiene, cleaning, janitorial, industrial chemicals, automotive chemicals, private‑label products, wholesale, or chemical manufacturing.
