Benefits Reporting to the Network Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for the effective day-to-day operation and maintenance of all Wastewater Network powered assets e.g. pumping stations, combined sewer overflows and detention tanks within a defined geographical area. You will ensure the smooth operation of assets minimising any impact on the customer and ensuring excellent customer service at all times. You will provide the first call response to reactive incidents, you will need to be pro-active and will be responsible for the efficient operation of Network Assets in your area. To achieve this you will need to maintain a close working relationship with other members of the network maintenance team and the Remote Monitoring Controllers. In addition you will work closely with other roles within the maintenance organisation and other departments within UU Job Purpose Working as part of the Network Maintenance Team and allocated to a defined area you will be accountable for ensuring the day-to-day operation and optimisation of the Wastewater network mechanical and electrical assets (e.g. pumping stations, powered mechanical screens and detention tanks.) Accountabilities & Responsibilities Reducing the number of failures and preventing any flooding or pollution incidents. This will be a critical aspect of the role. First call maintenance activities, root cause analysis and remedial actions are key to the reduction of failures and associated alarm volume. Managing asset failures, dealing with interim arrangements and returning assets to service as efficiently as possible. Carrying out planned and reactive first call maintenance tasks on all Wastewater Network mechanical and electrical assets. Monitoring, responding to and reducing reactive calls and alarms. Ensuring statutory compliance with required H&S, environmental and regulatory rules and guidelines associated with Wastewater Network powered assets. Ensuring that investment needs are identified and prioritised. Producing and maintaining contingency plans for all sites. Responding to customer issues in relation to your area of responsibility and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. Technical Skills & Experience Although not essential it would be beneficial if you were able to demonstrate basic maintenance understanding of the operation of powered assets, and a general understanding of wastewater network activities. The successful candidate will be required to take part in an out of hours standby rota and must be able to respond to call outs within an optimum time frame. This is a physically demanding role and duties will include climbing ladders, accessing manholes, working at heights, entering confined spaces and you may be required to work off access platforms. You will be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions. An understanding of Wastewater regulatory requirements. Qualifications Minimum of 5 GCSE's (or equivalent) A – C (including Maths and English) Network Asset Controllers will hold or be trained to United Utilities internal standard in operating and understanding wastewater powered assets. Whilst we have tried to highlight the key skills that will be required to undertake this role they are not all essential at the outset. A willingness to undertake the necessary training would be expected, and appropriate support and development will be provided.
