About the Role
We are recruiting Waste Collection Operatives on behalf of a public sector client to support refuse and recycling services. This is a physically demanding, outdoor role working as part of a collection crew to ensure waste services are delivered efficiently and safely.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Remove wheeled bins from collection points, empty them, and return them safely
* Operate mechanical lifting equipment at the rear of collection vehicles
* Collect additional waste on designated collection days
* Clear spillages and maintain cleanliness around collection areas
* Assist drivers when reversing or manoeuvring vehicles
* Identify and report contaminated or non-compliant waste
* Engage with members of the public in a polite and professional manner
* Support vehicle cleaning and basic maintenance tasks
Candidate Requirements
* Ability to undertake manual handling and sustained physical work
* Experience in waste collection, labouring, or outdoor work advantageous
* Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team
* Awareness of health & safety requirements
* Flexible approach to working hours and duties
