Job Title: Maintenance Technician (Post-Press) Job Summary: Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing print finishing, post-press, and packaging equipment to ensure optimal machine performance and production efficiency. This role supports overall operational excellence by performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing equipment issues, and collaborating with internal teams and external vendors. Technicians may be assigned to facilities in the Raleigh, Morrisville, or Durham areas and must be able to reliably commute to the designated location. What You'll Do Equipment Maintenance & Repair: Perform preventive and general maintenance on print finishing, post-press, and packaging machinery. Troubleshoot, adjust, and repair mechanical and electrical components to ensure operational uptime. Post-Press Operations Support: Maintain and service post-press equipment including binding machines, cutting systems, folding equipment, collating machinery, laminating units, and finishing systems. Ensure proper calibration and alignment of post-press equipment to maintain print quality and production specifications. Technical Diagnostics & Setup: Diagnose technical issues and install or calibrate parts to maximize equipment performance, quality, and production output. Use manuals and manufacturer instructions to support efficient problem-solving across all print finishing processes. Tool & System Utilization: Operate a variety of tools including electrical, pneumatic, and hand tools. Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document maintenance activities and track repairs across both press and post-press operations. Electrical & Mechanical Systems Support: Install and service systems such as motors, switches, pumps, relays, transformers, and circuit-breaker panels. Work with schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams to ensure proper functioning of all production equipment. Cross-functional Collaboration: Maintain effective communication with production teams, management, and external vendors to address equipment issues, status updates, and resolution timelines across the entire production workflow. Safety & Compliance: Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety guidelines including lock-out/tag-out procedures, and established housekeeping protocols to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. Additional Duties: Support team operations by contributing to production goals and assisting in other duties as needed to ensure efficient functioning of the maintenance unit. What You'll Bring Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant maintenance experience, preferably within the printing or manufacturing industry. Experience with post-press operations and finishing equipment is highly desirable. Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with electrical controls, pneumatic systems, sensors, labeling and inkjet printers, vision inspection systems, and load/scales systems. Experience with post-press equipment such as binding machinery, cutting systems, folding equipment, and finishing systems. Familiarity with PLC ladder logic is a plus. Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, industrial safety standards (ANSI, IEEE, UL), tolerance-based measurements, and post-press workflow requirements. Skills: Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic, and mechanical skills. Ability to read technical documentation and interpret schematics and blueprints for both press and post-press equipment. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Work Schedule Flexibility: Willingness to work a 2-2-3-2 rotating schedule (7am–7pm for day shift or 7pm–7am for night shift) following a training period of 4–12 weeks (Monday–Friday, 7am–4pm). Teamwork: Work closely with other team members, including the Press Operator and warehouse staff, to ensure consistent quality and efficiency in printing operations. Attention to Detail: Take pride in your work by ensuring 100% accuracy in product setup, material handling, and press operations. Continuous Improvement: Look for opportunities to streamline the press setup and printing processes, contributing to both efficiency and quality improvement. What to Expect in the Workplace Physical Demands: Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, and crawling in tight spaces. Must be able to push, pull, lift, or carry up to 60 pounds occasionally. Work Environment: Work is performed in a production environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures. May involve working in confined spaces and both indoor and outdoor conditions. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): PPE is required, including but not limited to safety glasses, ear protection, steel-toed shoes, and high-visibility apparel. Frequent Movement: Use of hands, wrists, and arms in repetitive motion, as well as operation of machinery, diagnostic equipment, and computers.
