Job Summary
Are you passionate about improving the lives of older people? We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join our Exeter‑based Older Peoples Community Mental Health Team. This role will deliver specialist psychological and neuropsychological assessments, therapeutic interventions, and consultation for older people with complex mental health needs and cognitive difficulties. You will also play a key role in supervision and service development.

Key Responsibilities
* Deliver evidence‑based psychological therapies tailored to older people
* Conduct neuropsychological assessments and formulate treatment plans
* Contribute to service development, audit and service improvement projects
* Promote psychological thinking across the multidisciplinary team
* Provide dedicated input to the Exeter Memory Clinic
* Support and supervise a Clinical Associate Psychologist
* Contribute to clinical placements for trainee psychologists
* Engage in peer supervision and service development activities

Essential Qualifications
* Qualified Practitioner Psychologist (D.Clin.Psychol. or equivalent) and eligible for Chartered Status in the British Psychological Society
* Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with HCPC
* At least a Masters level qualification in a recognised body of psychological practice
Knowledge and Skills
* Excellent verbal, non‑verbal and written communication skills
* Strong leadership qualities, resilience and ability to manage ambiguity and uncertainty
* Proficiency in conflict management, negotiation and achieving consensus in complex situations
* Ability to integrate complex data, make highly skilled evaluations and decisions, and adopt a long‑term perspective
* Proven organisational, planning and time‑management skills
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
* Calm, methodical approach with friendly, concise communication when presenting to varied groups
Experience
* Experience working with older adults in mental health services, including severe and complex mental health difficulties
* Experience of undertaking clinical placements and providing supervision to trainee psychologists
* Experience in clinical leadership roles within NHS psychological services, including development and implementation of strategies and clinical policies in multidisciplinary contexts
* Experience in diversity awareness, social inequality and inclusive practice
* Advanced assessment, formulation, and risk assessment skills; practical experience in specialist interventions for older people
