Overview
Senior Practitioner - CAMHS Learning Disabilities at Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust. This full-time role (part-time considered) involves delivering assessments and therapeutic interventions for children and young people with learning disabilities and mental health needs, across Worcestershire and Herefordshire in community and base settings.
Responsibilities
* Provide specialist input for young people with intellectual/learning disabilities and mental health needs, including assessment of needs and risk, and implementation and evaluation of care with the young person, their carer, the multidisciplinary team and other agencies.
* Hold a defined caseload and ensure effective liaison with families, carers, GPs and other services regarding support, management, risks and contingency strategies.
* Liaise with and support other professionals/agencies working with the young person and family; attend clinical meetings, MDT meetings, high-risk complex case meetings and other relevant meetings.
* Ensure documented care plans are created, reviewed and evaluated regularly.
* Mentor allocated RMN/RNLD student practitioners.
* Undertake regular supervision of own caseload with the team lead.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
* Relevant professional qualification (RNLD, OT, SALT, Social Work, RMN, etc.)
* Postgraduate qualification relevant to child and adolescent mental health and learning disabilities or relevant further training
* Experience of working with children and young people with learning disabilities and behavioural/mental health needs
* Experience of assessment and delivery of therapeutic interventions with young people and their families
* Experience of providing consultation to other agencies on learning disability issues
* Able to meet travel requirements of the post
* Good knowledge of safeguarding issues
Skills & Abilities
* Clear and effective verbal and written communication in English
* Strong assessment and risk management skills
* Good time management and organisational abilities
Desirable
* Clinical supervision experience for other staff
* Analysing data and outcomes
* Experience across settings and agencies; working in a multi-disciplinary team
* Training in Solihull Approach, Sensory Processing/Integration, Positive Behaviour Support
* Knowledge of attachment, sensory needs, autism, parental adjustment and the Mental Health Act
