Arboricultural Officer
Job description
We are currently seeking a suitably qualified individual to join our Neighbourhood Services team as an Arboriculture Officer. The team is responsible for a wide range of service delivery functions. The team consists of circa 200 employees, split across three service areas including Street scene, Bereavement services and Asset & Project Management. The appointed Arboricultural Officer will work within the Assets & Projects department, helping to drive improvement, efficiency and excellence with regards to the council’s arboricultural service.
As a Arboricultural Officer you will have supervisory responsibility for a team of seven staff on a daily basis, with additional resources available during periods of extreme weather to assist when required. The current staffing structure consists of a Tree Surveyor, 2x Arboriculture Charge Hands, 2x Arborists and 2x Streetcare Operatives.
Your daily routine will involve team management, customer queries, site surveys and advice to other internal departments. In 2024 a Tree Management Policy was adopted and is used as a guide to managing the tree stock within NPT. The Arboriculture Officer will be the main person responsible for delivering the objectives set out within this guidance.
There is an expectation to be office/site based for most of the working week, due to the nature of the work and the management of operational staff.
About you:
Do you have:
1. Significant experience in the arboricultural or related industry.
2. A minimum level 2 qualification e.g. Royal Forestry Society certificate in arboriculture, ISA certified arborist examination.
3. Ability to supervise arboricultural staff.
4. Ability to manage budgets and organise work programmes.
