We are seeking a patient and motivated tutor to work with a Year 9 student who has been out of formal education since July 2025 and now needs structured support to re‑engage with learning. The young person experiences significant anxiety around returning to school and would benefit from a calm, consistent mentor who can help build confidence and routine.
The student has a diagnosis of ASD and suspected ADHD (awaiting formal assessment). A flexible, understanding approach is essential.
What the Role Involves
Beginning with mentoring‑focused sessions to build trust and emotional safety
Working at a gentle, student‑led pace to avoid overwhelm
Completing a baseline assessment to identify strengths and learning gaps
Gradually introducing Maths and English once confidence improves
Helping the student develop coping strategies and rebuild self‑belief
Supporting the transition back into education over time
Experience Needed
6+ months experience in a UK education setting (within the last 5 years)
SEN experience desirable, particularly with ASD, ADHD, or SEMH needs
Ability to adapt teaching styles to suit emotional readiness and learning gaps
