The role
We are looking for a Senior Research Analyst to work closely with a team of analysts based in Oxford, dedicated to meeting the needs of our clients in the global sugar sector.
The role involves undertaking detailed economic, quantitative, and market analysis and research assignments, including forecasting supply and demand, price outlooks, policy analysis, performance/cost of production benchmarking, and bespoke consulting projects such as feasibility studies, market segment price outlooks, and policy assessments.
What you'll be doing
* Conducting analysis and forecasts supporting the weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual services of the sugar research team.
* Tracking and forecasting sugar supply, demand, prices, and policy developments in key geographies.
* Maintaining and organizing the database underpinning the analysis.
* Managing consulting projects with support from team members.
* Developing in-depth knowledge of the sugar industry to provide expert advice to clients.
* Liaising with industry stakeholders, including grower associations, producers, consumers, and policymakers; occasional research trips may be involved.
What we're looking for
We seek individuals with intelligent, inquisitive, and analytical minds, capable of applying microeconomic and statistical analysis to real-world situations.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a desire to acquire detailed knowledge of the sugar sector, capable of articulating economic ideas in clear, simple language, and understanding the economic forces, policies, market trends, and structural changes shaping the sector.
Applicants with a background in agricultural economics (Masters or above) are preferred but not essential for the right candidate.
