Job Description:
Discover a new kind of career in healthcare as a functional specialist
Are you working in healthcare and looking for a change? If you’re a nurse (RGN, RMN or RNLD), occupational therapist, physiotherapist, or paramedic, you could use your skills differently as a functional specialist.
Functional specialists write reports that help the Department for Communities (DfC) make important decisions about a person’s health and care.
Day to Day
You will conduct initial reviews, which may be paper-based, face-to-face, via video, or telephone assessments, to evaluate how a claimant’s health condition or disability affects their daily life.
Our client's hybrid model means you’ll be based at home and assigned to work from your nearest assessment centre on a rota basis for face-to-face assessments. You’ll also spend time in centres or offices for team meetings or training.
You will observe and report on an individual’s ability to carry out activities, analyzing clinical information and supporting evidence. You will create three comprehensive reports of 3,000-4,000 words each day, providing detailed evidence and justification to support DWP decisions.
Our Offer
This is a challenging and unique role, and our client invests in your training and development. You’ll start with a 6-week training program (Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm), including time for self-development.
* The first six months can be challenging, but you will receive close mentorship and support during your ongoing development.
* A competitive basic salary of £38,500, with potential to increase to £39,900 based on performance.
Your Requirements
* At least one year of post-registration experience as a nurse, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, or paramedic.
* Fully registered with a relevant UK regulatory body (NMC, HCPC, or other) without restrictions or conditions, with a valid PIN.
* Excellent observational and communication skills, with the ability to listen, empathize, and investigate further.
* Ability to type at a minimum of 30 words per minute.
* Experience with IT and Microsoft Office, including remote access systems like MS Teams.
