R ole Overview As Global Head of Communications for Ben & Jerry’s, you will be responsible for shaping and executing Ben & Jerry’s global communications strategy. You will lead communications that amplify Ben & Jerry’s three-part mission: product excellence, economic sustainability, and social justice. The role is deeply embedded in Ben & Jerry’s commitment to using business as a force for good. The communications leadership ensures that the company not only promotes euphoric ice cream—but also social justice. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership : Define and lead global communications strategy, that amplifies Ben & Jerry’s bold innovation and activist brand identity. Campaign Development : Co-create and launch high-impact activism campaigns around issues including refugee rights and climate justice. Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with Activism Managers, NGO partners, and marketing teams across Europe and globally. Serve as key point of contact for Communications stakeholders across TMICC. Media Relations : Serve as the brand’s primary spokesperson, overseeing global press outreach strategy, advising on required responses and cascading communication plans for global, regional and local execution. Crisis Communications - lead Ben & Jerry’s crisis communications, including messaging development and internal and external stakeholder management, ensuring alignment with brand values and tone. Senior Leadership Advisory : Serve as a strategic communications partner to senior leaders during high-stakes situations, providing clear recommendations on messaging, tone, and response priorities to support decision-making. Content & Storytelling : Oversee creation of compelling messaging for content across digital, social, and earned media channels. Thought Leadership : Represent Ben & Jerry’s at global conferences, panels, and media events, advocating for corporate activism and reinforcing the brand’s leadership in this space. C oaching : Mentor and train global marketing teams on tone of voice, messaging, and best practices for external and internal communications Internal Communications : Oversee internal communications, led by member of the C ommunications team, to ensure global teams remain informed, ensuring clarity and consistency. Line Management : Provide direct l ine management of 3 communications professionals ( 1 based in Datchet, 2 based in Vermont ) setting clear objectives, coaching and development and prioritisation. What you will need to succeed Skills & Experience Proven track record in communications, public relations, crisis communications and brand activism, designing and executing global strategies that align with brand purpose and objectives. Deep understanding of social justice movements and how to translate them into compelling narratives. Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, able to influence decisions through clear and compelling communications. Experience in media strategy, content creation, and crisis communications. Strong track record in handling press engagement and leading communications during high-stakes or sensitive situations Ideal Candidate Profile Strong understanding of social justice issues and a passion for activism. Experience i n communications, PR, or marketing— preferably in a n NGO or not profit sector or consumer brand. Excellent writing and storytelling skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and work cross-functionally. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, values-driven environment. Calm under pressure. Strong alignment with Ben & Jerry’s social mission and values, bringing authenticity and advocacy to every aspect of the role.
