The role

If you're a maintenance engineer who thrives in technically advanced environments, this is a rare chance to work on some of the UK's most sophisticated automation systems.

Before applying for this role, please read the following information about this opportunity found below.

Up to £58,000 | Permanent | Hinckley, Leicestershire

12-hour rotating shifts (days and nights, including weekends)

Overtime opportunities on top of base package

Structured technical development and training

Exposure to advanced automation and robotics systems

Motiontech designs, installs, and maintains intelligent automation and material handling systems for major UK retail and logistics businesses. Their engineering teams keep high-availability, high-performance automated distribution operations running around the clock. It's hands-on, technically demanding work, and the investment in people matches the investment in kit.

You'll join an established maintenance team on-site in Hinckley, keeping cutting-edge automated material handling systems running at peak performance. Day to day, you'll split your time between planned preventative work and reactive fault-finding — with the tools, systems, and team around you to do both properly.

You Will

  • Deliver planned preventative maintenance across automated material handling systems
  • Respond to breakdowns quickly, diagnosing and resolving faults to minimise downtime
  • Fault-find on electrical, mechanical, and PLC-controlled equipment
  • Maintain conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pneumatics, and automated handling systems
  • Use the CMMS to log maintenance activity and track performance data

What you'll bring

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical, Mechanical, or Multi-Skilled Engineering
  • Proven maintenance experience in logistics, automation, FMCG, or manufacturing
  • Strong fault-finding skills across electrical, mechanical, and PLC-controlled systems
  • Hands-on experience with conveyors, drives, gearboxes, and pneumatics
  • Comfortable working 12-hour rotating shifts including nights and weekends
  • Experience with CMMS platforms
  • Previous work in a high-speed automated logistics environment
  • Exposure to robotics or advanced sortation systems

Benefits & culture

  • Financial: Up to £58,000 including shift allowance, plus overtime
  • Development: Structured technical training with access to advanced automation systems
  • Stability: Permanent role with a well-established automation business
  • Environment: High-spec, technically varied site — no two shifts are the same

Working arrangements

Location: Hinckley, Leicestershire | On-site Contract: Permanent | Full-time Shifts: 12-hour rotating days and nights, including weekends
