About the Role
Providing professional front-line employee relations advice and support to colleagues and Management Teams on all aspects of employee relations, colleague welfare, performance management, people policies, data protection & right to work legislation.
This position will be based in London ideally, but will consider candidates for our Rednal Head office. B45 9PZ
What you'll be Doing:
A Specialist will either have existing experience or will be trained in the following areas. Training is ongoing based on the need to adapt our policies and processes to changing regulations. Specialists will be expected to network and review latest legal updates to ensure their knowledge remains current.
Employee Relations
1. To provide professional, balanced and expert advice and support to line managers at all levels within the business. This will include:
2. ACAS guidelines
3. Performance Management
4. Disciplinary Process, incl. case analysis
5. Grievances, incl. resignation in haste/complaints
6. Whistleblowing, incl. management of our international case management system
7. Appeals
8. ACAS Early Conciliation
9. Tribunal case preparation and management
People Policies:
10. To have expert knowledge of our various people policies and guides, to provide advice and support on the following:
11. Maternity/Adoption/Paternity/Shared Parental Leave/Parental Leave
12. Compassionate Leave / Dependency Leave / Force Majeure Leave
13. Equality & Diversity
14. Attendance Management:
15. To have expert knowledge of our attendance policy, alongside the ability to apply sound judgement on the following:
16. Unauthorised Absence & Some Other Substantial Reason (SOSR)
17. Absence Without Leave (AWOL)
18. Short-Term Absence incl. Intermittent absence
19. Long-Term Absence incl. Occupational Health case management
20. Reasonable Adjustments
21. Ill-health Terminations
Right to Work in the UK:
22. To have an excellent knowledge of the regulations relating to checking right to work in the UK and to provide support on the following:
23. Completing checks on eligibility to Work in the UK, Ireland and Guernsey
24. Visa renewals & appeals
25. Employer sponsorship visas
26. Training line managers on RTW validation using Right-check
Data Protection:
27. To have a good understanding of the General Data Protection Regulations to support the following areas:
28. Subject Access Requests (SARS)
29. Right to be Forgotten requests
30. Personal Details Correction
31. Privileged communications
32. Data Protection policies
33. ICO contact
34. Data breaches
Employment Legislation:
35. To be able to support front line managers with employment issues relating to:
36. Working Time Regulations, incl. Child & Young Workers
37. Fixed term contracts
38. Probation periods
39. Hour’s consultations
40. Redundancy consultations
41. Flexible working
To be Successful in this role you will need:
Essential:
42. Up-to-date knowledge of HR legislation and best practice
43. Great listener
44. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
45. Good administrative and IT skills
46. Experience in letter writing
47. Ability to build key working relationships and influence colleagues at all levels
Desirable:
48. CIPD Qualified
49. Experience of working in HR Function or Operations with a strong ER record
