General Kitchen Assistant Location: Oasis Academy Harpur Mount, Alfred St, Harpurhey, Manchester M9 5XR Pay: £13.45 per hour Hours: 16 hours per week Working Pattern: Monday–Friday, 10:15am–13:15pm Contract: Term Time Only – 39 weeks, Permanent, Part Time Join a Busy School Catering Team Are you an experienced General Kitchen Assistant/ Catering Assistant looking for a role that fits around your family life while allowing you to continue doing what you do best? We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic General Kitchen Assistant to join our busy catering team at Oasis Academy Harpur Mount . This role is ideal for someone with previous experience in school catering, contract catering, hospitality, or food service environments who enjoys working in a fast-paced setting and takes pride in delivering excellent food and customer service. Our lunchtime service is busy and demanding, serving large numbers of students within a short period of time. We are therefore seeking someone who can remain calm under pressure, work efficiently as part of a team, and maintain high standards of food safety and presentation throughout service. What You’ll Do Supporting the preparation and service of nutritious school meals Serving food efficiently during busy lunch periods Assisting with food preparation and presentation Maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen and dining areas Replenishing food counters and service points during service Receiving and storing deliveries appropriately Following all food hygiene, allergen, and health & safety procedures Supporting the wider catering team to ensure a smooth and efficient service Providing a friendly and professional service to students, staff, and visitors What We’re Looking For Previous experience working within catering, hospitality, food service, or a school kitchen environment Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment Excellent teamwork and communication skills Good organisational skills and attention to detail Understanding of food hygiene and safe working practices Positive attitude and willingness to support the team Food Hygiene Certificate (Desirable) Experience serving high volumes of customers during busy service periods (Desirable) What We Offer Working with Sodexo is more than a job — it’s a chance to be part of a team where you’re valued and supported. Additional Information Term Time Only – Equated Pay This role works 39 weeks per year.Your salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments across 12 months, meaning you receive consistent pay throughout the year, including during school closure periods.
