Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment. This role involves assisting with food preparation, cleaning duties, and supporting the overall operation of the kitchen to ensure a high standard of service. The ideal candidate will be reliable, hardworking, and eager to develop their skills within the hospitality industry.
Responsibilities
* Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision, including washing vegetables and assembling ingredients.
* Support chefs with cooking and plating as required, ensuring quality standards are met.
* Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including washing dishes, pots, pans, and utensils promptly and efficiently.
* Ensure all work surfaces, floors, and equipment are kept hygienic and sanitised in accordance with health and safety regulations.
* Restock supplies and organise storage areas to facilitate smooth kitchen operations.
* Support serving staff during busy periods by assisting with setting up or clearing tables if needed.
* Follow health and safety procedures at all times to maintain a safe working environment for all staff.
Skills
* Experience in food preparation or cooking is desirable but not essential; training will be provided.
* Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting is advantageous.
* Knowledge of kitchen hygiene standards and safety regulations.
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
* Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
* Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
