Our pupils love Design and Technology and enjoy learning graphics, resistant materials and textiles across the year and like being challenged to think about how we can find solutions to key problems through clever design. We need a leader with subject expertise to shape this. If you are passionate that pupils in every school should access a rich DT curriculum, meaningful enrichment and opportunities to think beyond the curriculum, then this is the role for you.
We are looking for an excellent Head of Department, or someone looking to step up to that level for the very first time, to compliment our brilliant team and to continue to drive results and the development of our pupils.
In particular, the post holder will:
1. Provide professional leadership and management to the Department in order to secure high quality teaching, effective use of resources and improved standards of learning and achievement for all students
2. Identify priorities for improvement within the department and contribute to school self-evaluation and improvement planning.
3. Manage resources efficiently so that teaching and learning is effectively supported in the department.
4. Lead, manage and develop the Department curriculum team.
The Design & Technology Department
Our design and technology department are a friendly, supportive and high performing team of teachers. You will be joining a dedicated team of expert teachers, passionate about delivering outstanding lessons.
The department is extremely well resourced with subject specific equipment, covering Design and Technology, Food Technology, Art and Textiles. The department is further supported by highly skilled and experienced technology technicians within food technology, design and workshop practical’s.

Outwood Academy Freeston became part of the Outwood Grange Academies Trust on 1st May 2018. The Academy is in the heart of Normanton, which is a small town and part of the City of Wakefield.
