Job Summary
Band 2 Theatre Assistant – St. Michael's Hospital, Hayle, Cornwall.
We are looking for a dedicated member of the Theatre team to support operating and recovery, covering multiple specialties across our facilities.
Responsibilities
* Transport patients to and from theatre and recoveries.
* Clean and maintain theatres and adjacent departments.
* Work as part of a multi‑professional team to support peri‑operative care.
* Change and manage oxygen cylinders.
* Collect pre‑ and post‑operative patients.
* Stock essential equipment and perform day‑to‑day inventory.
* Empty sterile service buggy, handle sterile equipment efficiently.
Person Specification
Experience
* Previous experience in an acute healthcare setting (essential).
* Experience as a Theatre Assistant or similar role (desirable).
* Care Certificate or Level 2/3 Healthcare Apprenticeship (desirable).
Qualifications
* English and Mathematics Level C/2 or above (essential).
Skills & Knowledge
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Awareness of health and safety issues relevant to a clinical environment.
* Basic computer competence.
* Ability to use the Galaxy system (desirable).
* Ability to answer bleeps and raise concerns regarding patient safety (desirable).
Working Conditions
* Contract: Permanent, Full‑time (37.5 hours per week).
* Place of work: St. Michael's Hospital, Hayle, Cornwall.
* Pay: Salary based on experience, pro‑rata.
