The post will suit a person wishing to develop a career in clinical research, as they will attain cutting-edge experience in how to run clinical translational research. The successful candidate will be bright, independent, highly motivated, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
The post-holder will be based in the Clinical Research Facility at Moorfields Eye Hospital and UCL Institute of Ophthalmology. They will acquire expertise in the use and interpretation of various psychophysical assessments, including microperimetry and detailed colour vision assessments, as well as imaging studies such as fundus photography, autofluorescence imaging, and high-resolution optical coherence tomography. They will also work on stem cell and robotic translational studies.
The Post-holder Will Be Expected To:
* Collect clinical data (including history, examination findings, investigations) and collate in a custom-designed database.
* Work collaboratively with other members of the research team and clinical staff.
* Recruit and coordinate patients for clinical trials.
* Organise, maintain, and analyse project data.
* Perform data analysis to understand genotype-phenotype correlations.
* Manage clinical data and liaise with the lead investigator.
* Participate actively in ongoing research projects.
* Achieve goals as discussed with their line manager.
* Present project results at national and international meetings.
* Prepare research findings for publication.
* Perform any other duties within the scope of the post, as requested by their line manager.
* Undertake patient and public involvement exercises to promote the disease and research activities.
