About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and hands-on Temporary Maintenance Operative to provide ad-hoc cover across a busy accommodation site. This role focuses on completing essential day-to-day repair tasks, with a particular emphasis on maintaining and repairing door locks, handles, and basic fixtures to ensure a safe and comfortable living environment for residents.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out routine maintenance tasks, including:
o Repairing and replacing door locks, handles, latches, and hinges
o Troubleshooting and fixing minor issues in rooms and communal areas
o Completing basic repairs to fixtures, fittings, and general building fabric
* Respond promptly to maintenance requests and ensure all tasks are completed to a high standard.
* Conduct checks to identify repair needs and report any larger issues to the Maintenance Supervisor or Site Manager.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures at all times.
* Maintain accurate records of completed tasks.
* Provide professional and friendly customer service to student residents.
Requirements
* Previous experience in maintenance, repairs, or a similar hands-on role.
* Practical skills and confidence working with tools and basic hardware repairs.
* Ability to diagnose straightforward maintenance issues efficiently.
* Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
* Reliability, punctuality, and ability to work independently.
* A proactive, problem-solving mindset.
