Highly Specialised Pelvic Health Physiotherapist (Band 7)
Job Overview
Team lead Pelvic Health Physiotherapist responsible for fulfilling PPHS service specification of preventing and managing pelvic floor symptoms associated with pregnancy and childbirth. 0.4 WTE – 15 hours per week (pro‑rated).
Main Duties
* Clinical caseload to fulfil PPHS requirements and increased demand and referrals; lead newly created antenatal classes.
* Service development – involved in quality improvement projects enhancing patient experience and journey.
* Supervisor to band 6 physiotherapists.
* Clinical education to team and MDT; assist in inductions and training.
* Operational day‑to‑day running of the service, diary management, booking escalations, triage.
Person Specification
Education / Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent in physiotherapy.
* HCPC registration.
* Evidence of CPD in pelvic health physiotherapy (postgraduate education/courses).
* POGP membership.
* Formal or postgraduate courses in Management.
* Leadership training.
* Master’s degree or evidence of working at an equivalent level.
Experience
* Pelvic Health physiotherapy experience, including vaginal and anorectal internal examinations.
* NHS experience (can include undergraduate experience).
* Experience of performance management of physiotherapists and students.
* Good knowledge of complex conditions and appropriate assessment and management within urogynecological and colorectal contexts.
* Advanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology underlying pelvic health presentations.
* Good working knowledge of all areas of Clinical Governance including quality improvement, audit and risk management.
* Understands the legal responsibilities of the profession.
* Good understanding of statistics and their evaluation and experience of their use.
* Basic understanding of computers and their applications.
* Experience of quality improvement projects.
* Experience of organising and chairing meetings.
* Experience of lecturing externally.
* Experience of the research process.
* Experience of operational team management.
