Customs Clearance Manager
Salary: £35,000 -£40,000 DOE + Bonus Incentives + Regular Salary Reviews
Location: Remote, Hybrid or Office-Based (with occasional office attendance preferred)
Hours: Flexible, typically 9:00 am5:00 pm
A growing and highly respected logistics and freight forwarding business is seeking a Customs Clearance Manager to join its close-knit team.
This is a standalone customs role reporting directly to the Managing Director, offering the opportunity to become a key part of a growing business where your ideas, expertise, and input will genuinely make a difference.
This position would suit someone with around 35 years' customs clearance experience who is looking to develop their career within a business that values initiative, trust, and long-term progression. Equally, we welcome applications from experienced customs professionals who enjoy working independently and taking ownership of their workload.

The Role
You will be responsible for managing customs clearances across a variety of import and export movements, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and excellent customer service throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities
Completing import and export customs declarations on behalf of customers
Ensuring all commercial documentation complies with HMRC requirements
Managing customs clearances across various freight movements and customs regimes
Providing customs compliance guidance and support to customers
Assisting with HMRC audits and retrieving supporting documentation through MSS data
Maintaining exceptional levels of accuracy across all declarations
Liaising with customers, transport providers, and operational teams to ensure smooth shipment processing
Keeping up to date with changes in customs legislation, government policy, EU regulations, and post-Brexit requirements
Skills & Experience Required
Applicants should demonstrate strong knowledge and experience in:
Import and Export Customs Declarations
CDS (Customs Declaration Service) and associated data elements
Descartes and Destin8 systems
Incoterms and their commercial implications
Preference rules, Statements of Origin, and CDS preference codes
Duty, excise, and quota management
Customs Procedure Codes (CPCs)
Customs regimes including: Warehousing
Returned Goods Relief (RGR)
Inward Processing Relief (IPR)
Customs document codes and supporting documentation requirements
Commodity codes, duty rates, and VAT classifications
HMRC compliance procedures and audit support
