OverviewPrincipal Waste and Resources Consultant – leading strategy, project delivery and client relationships across the UK to transform waste into valuable resources.
Responsibilities
Lead and deliver high‑impact projects focused on waste management and circular economy principles.
Deliver and review technical outputs including construction & excavation waste classification (WM3 guidance), waste reuse mechanisms, environmental permits, strategic documentation, circular economy application, environmental impact assessment – material assets and waste chapters, and compliance advice.
Project‑manage medium to large‑scale projects: tendering, financial management, client liaison, contractual KPI oversight, and resourcing.
Build and maintain client relationships to secure future work.
Drive business development through proposal preparation and project delivery.
Mentor and develop junior colleagues.
Qualifications
Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Geology or related discipline (MSc highly desirable).
Extensive experience in waste and resources management, especially construction and excavation waste, with deep knowledge of UK waste legislation.
Proven project‑management experience delivering projects on time and within budget.
Experience managing staff and leading teams.
Chartered status (CIWM, ISEP, or equivalent) or actively pursuing it.
Excellent communication, leadership and problem‑solving skills.
Proactive, strategic mindset capable of innovation and inspiration.
Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK.
Ideally based within an hour of Bristol, Manchester or Hemel Hempstead.
