The Role
We are seeking a skilled and meticulous Press Brake Operator to join our busy fabrication team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in setting up and operating press brake machinery to produce accurate bends and forms in various metal sheets, ensuring all components meet tight tolerances and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Setting up and operating Amada or similar CNC press brake machines.
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and job specifications to determine appropriate forming methods and sequence of operations.
Selecting appropriate tooling (punches and dies) for various materials and bend requirements.
Programming or inputting parameters into the CNC control system to achieve precise bends.
Inspecting finished components using measuring tools (calipers, protractors, height gauges) to ensure accuracy and quality standards are met.
Working with a variety of materials, including mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium, in different thicknesses.
Performing routine maintenance checks on the machine and ensuring a safe, clean working environment.
Troubleshooting machine issues and proactively identifying opportunities for process improvements.
Skills & Requirements
Essential: Proven, hands-on experience as a Press Brake Operator within a sheet metal fabrication environment.
Strong ability to read and accurately interpret complex engineering/technical drawings.
Experience with CNC controls (ideally Amada, Bystronic, or similar).
Solid understanding of metal forming properties and tooling selection.
High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality output.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a production team.
Strong adherence to health and safety regulations in a workshop setting.
