Job Title: Expert by Experience (Thera East)
Location: Home-based in Colchester or surrounding areas, with travel around the East of England
Contract: Relief, as and when required, with flexible working hours and days
Salary: £12.21 per hour
Other Requirements: Willingness to travel with or without a supporter to carry out quality checks
About Us: The Quality & Involvement Team at Thera Trust provides peer-led quality checks on care and support for people with learning disabilities and/or autism. We seek an Expert by Experience to use your lived experience to improve support quality within our Thera Companies. You will be supported by a Quality & Involvement Supporter who will guide your work to align with Thera Trust's goals and the needs of those we support.
Main Purpose: To utilize your lived experience to gather insights and provide feedback on support quality, helping shape better care services across Thera Trust.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Observe and report: Visit individuals in their homes to assess support and gather feedback for improvement.
2. 1:1 conversations: Engage with support recipients and their families or carers to understand their experiences.
3. Facilitate workshops/group events: Lead discussions to gather opinions on support quality.
4. Report writing: Collaborate with your Supporter to document findings and prepare reports for Thera Companies.
5. Collaborate effectively: Work with staff across departments to promote open communication.
6. Attend meetings/training: Participate virtually or in person as required.
Skills and Attributes:
* Lived experience of learning disability and/or autism
* Strong communication skills and adaptability in various settings
* Passion for community impact and support improvement
* Knowledge of good/support practices, safeguarding, and inclusion
* Ability to advocate and engage with new people
* Experience in workshops and organizational skills
* Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Teams, and smartphones
