Job Opportunity: Senior Healthcare Support Worker & Phlebotomy Team Member
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced SHCSW to join the Dr Gray’s Senior Healthcare Support Worker and Phlebotomy Team at Dr Gray’s Hospital.
The service currently has a vacancy for 37 hours per week.
Applications are welcomed from experienced HCSWs with a willingness to work dynamically and support the evolving services at Dr Gray’s Hospital.
The Phlebotomy Team provides a 7-day service, operating from 7 am to 3 pm, Monday to Sunday, supporting venesection clinics on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 pm to 5 pm.
This role is crucial in delivering frontline NHS Grampian services and supporting patient care at Dr Gray’s Hospital.
The postholder will assist medical and nursing staff by performing venepuncture on hospital patients during scheduled rounds, and support retrieval and delivery of urgent blood samples and cannulation as needed. The role also involves learning and developing skills for delivering a twice-weekly outpatient venesection service, which involves lone working and administrative duties on a staff rotation basis. Occasionally, the postholder may support clinical areas with direct patient care during increased operational pressures.
The ideal candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills, communicate effectively both written and verbally, work well under pressure, prioritize workload efficiently, and have previous experience in an acute clinical setting.
