Job overview
We are inviting applications for a 12-month Locum Consultant Anaesthetist post at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, with a specialist interest in Day Surgery and Regional Anaesthesia. The post is based across our two acute hospital sites in Eastbourne, Hastings and the Sussex Surgical Centre, and includes participation in the general on‑call rota.
The role offers opportunities to develop and deliver anaesthesia services for a wide range of surgical specialties, tailored to the individual’s training, skills, and interests.

Anaesthesia is delivered across two acute sites – Conquest Hospital (Hastings) and Eastbourne District General Hospital (EDGH) – with dedicated services for both elective and emergency care.
Person specification
Training and experience
* Extensive experience in all aspects of anaesthesia appropriate to work undertaken in a DGH setting
* Demonstrates previous experience in day-case anaesthesia
* Regional anaesthesia
* Paediatric anaesthesia
* Perioperative Training
Qualifications & Registration
* Full registration with GMC
* FRCA or equivalent
* Higher Qualification: a. ND b. PhD c. MSc d. MRCP
