Estimator - Construction

Our client, a well-established Main Contractor based in Liverpool, is looking to appoint an Estimator to join their growing Construction team. The business delivers a wide range of projects, predominantly within the Education sector, with project values typically ranging from £500k to £1m.
This opportunity would suit either:
An Estimator looking to develop within a supportive contractor environment, or
A slightly more experienced candidate with some Quantity Surveying exposure who can bring additional commercial value to the team.
The Role
The successful candidate will support the pre-construction function and play a key role in the tendering process, helping to secure projects within tight turnaround times, typically 2-3 days.
Key responsibilities will include:
Preparing and assisting with cost estimates and tender submissions
Sending out subcontractor and supplier enquiries
Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations
Supporting the commercial and pre-construction teams throughout the tender process
Assisting with pricing analysis and cost comparisons
Working on projects primarily within the Education sector
Supporting the delivery of competitive tenders on projects valued between £500k-£1m
Candidate Profile
Our client is focused more on personality, attitude, and capability than the specific companies candidates have worked for.
They are looking for someone who:
Has experience within estimating in the construction industry
Ideally has some Quantity Surveying knowledge or exposure (preferred but not essential)
Is commercially aware and organised
Can work effectively in a fast-paced tender environment
Has strong communication and supplier management skills
Is proactive, reliable, and eager to develop
