The Emergency Department at the Leicester Royal Infirmary is one of the busiest in the UK with good standards of care and performance. Our aim is to be one of the best acute and emergency service providers in the UK over the next five years. We’re looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our fast‑paced and energetic team.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the post are similar to those of the FY2, ST1 and ST2 training grade doctors. The main duties and responsibilities of this post are to:
* Carry out initial assessments, investigations and manage patients in the Emergency Department
* Have flexibility to work in all areas of the department including resus, majors, injuries and paediatrics
* Be responsible for arranging admissions and discharge of patients in the Emergency Department
* Ensure a safe and high standard of care for all our patients
* Assist with achieving the DOH Clinical Quality Indicators for Urgency and Emergency Care
The ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team is essential to this post. You will be expected to work cohesively with therapists, Advanced Care Practitioners and Clinical Nurse Specialists in the department.

Work Environment
The Emergency Department is fully computerised and runs on the Nervecente Computer System for registration of patients, collection of patient details and retrieval of the clinical data. Patient tracking is operated via Nervecente and is a vital part of efficient functioning of ED and EDU.
