We are currently recruiting for a Head of Sawn Timber Sales - Metsä Wood UK.
What’s your role at Metsä?
The role reports to the UK Sales Director. The successful candidate will be a senior sales leader responsible for all of Metsä Group's sawn timber sales in the British market, leveraging Metsä Wood’s reputation for high quality, service, and operational excellence.
This position offers an opportunity to strengthen the sales leadership team, contributing to overall sales strategy and culture, while leading the development and execution of channel sales performance.
Main Responsibilities
1. Grow sales revenue and margins within existing routes to market by selecting customers and industries carefully.
2. Identify value within our service offerings and specifications to create value-based selling opportunities.
3. Manage a direct report, demonstrating leadership and development skills, while supporting wider UK commercial strategies.
4. Collaborate with internal teams to promote sawn timber sales through product knowledge, price optimization, and market responsiveness.
5. Establish and maintain networks to support Metsä’s growth and best practices.
6. Build strong relationships with trade partners to enhance customer engagement and develop sustainable relationships.
7. Develop collaborative relationships with the Metsa Fibre business unit to support their needs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Ensure product margin profitability.
2. Increase volume and sales margins.
3. Support wider Metsä Group commercial goals.

* Proven track record in growing sawn timber sales in the UK.
* Experience working directly with Nordic sawmilling.
* Customer-oriented and creative, willing to be hands-on and lead through capability and partnership.
* Strong commercial negotiation skills for sustainable agreements.
* Culturally sensitive and adaptable.
