Job Responsibilities
* Lead the technical delivery of complex structural engineering projects, managing commercial and resourcing aspects without supervision.
* Develop leadership skills and support the growth of the structural engineering team through business development, client relationship management, and technical guidance.
* Prepare technical reports that clearly convey complex structural engineering concepts to clients and stakeholders.
* Conduct independent technical reviews and quality control reviews of work prepared by others.
* Mentor and coach colleagues in their professional development.
* Participate in the development of technical proposals and provide estimates for engineering budgets and schedules on large projects.
* Support the business in winning new projects and identify opportunities for growth.
* Pursue continuous learning and consider wider engineering issues related to project delivery.
* Maintain awareness of professional development and career progression opportunities.
Minimum Requirements
* Proven ability in the structural design of structural materials, including steel and reinforced concrete.
* Experience in the analysis and design of seismically qualified structures.
* Knowledge of safety case interface within the nuclear sector.
* Experience and a proven record of delivery of projects within the defence sector.
* Ability to undertake structural design using current British Standards, Eurocodes, and seismic design standards.
* Understanding of project management principles and practices to coordinate technical delivery with internal and external clients.
* Excellent communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to write compelling proposals and technical reports.
* Knowledge of construction contracts, professional agreements, and experience in client engagement during fee proposal preparation and scope agreement.
* Experience with commercially available design software packages, including finite element software.
* Capability to decide on the level of reliance and accuracy to attach to design software results and interpret them into practical engineering solutions.
Qualifications
* Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
* ICE or IStructE Chartered Engineer with post-chartership experience.
* Ability to achieve and maintain suitable security clearance and a UK driving licence.
Location
The role is based in the South West & Wales business unit with teams in Basingstoke, Bristol and Plymouth. The successful candidate may be located anywhere in the UK, but should be willing to travel regularly to the South West of the UK and other UK offices as required.
