Job Purpose

Reporting to the site General Manager, this HSE Co-Ordinator will.

1. Lead the implementation of proactive Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives at site to ensure legislative compliance and a continually improving HSE performance and culture.
2. Be the on-site “Subject Matter Expert” and provide Health Safety & Environmental expertise & guidance for all personnel
3. Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental responsibilities are understood and carried out daily.
4. Take the lead with any Health, Safety and Environmental issue at site and ensure that all staff are complying with the company procedures and legislative standards.

Job Responsibilities/Key accountabilities:

5. Lead the site H&S Committee meetings, listening and working collaboratively with employees at site.
6. Work with the Regional H&S Leader to deliver health and safety strategies and develop internal, site-based policies.
7. Develop action plans and track progress in line with the central & local HS&E strategy
8. Assist and provide guidance on carrying out risk assessments and considering how risks could be reduced. Follow up on resultant actions to completion.
9. Assist and support site with implementation of environmental impacts and aspect assessments
10. Coordinate external audits
11. Provide the site with support and guidance with operational learning events.
12. Assist with regular site and equipment inspections to check policies, procedures and working practices are being implemented correctly.
13. Provide internal and external audit support.
14. Manage the Safety Excellence System (SES) and Environmental e2 Excellence System
15. Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of HS&E legislation/developments and brief teams of any changes.
16. Advise teams on specialist areas such as fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, appropriate guarding of machinery and occupational diseases.
17. Conducting internal audits and effectively plan to address any gaps noted.

23. Problem-Solving: Identifies and analyses problems; generates and evaluates alternative solutions; makes recommendations; demonstrates tackling a problem by using a logical, systematic, or sequential approach.
24. Growth and Results Oriented: Demonstrates an interest, willingness and drive to learn new things.
25. Collaboration: Works effectively with others to complete a task or achieve a common objective.
26. Flexible and adaptable to change and prepared to take on additional responsibilities with other duties as required to meet business needs. Successfully adapts to changing demands and conditions.

Experience

27. Required: Minimum of 2-5 years experience of working within H&S specialism
28. Required: Minimum of 2 years experience of working with environmental management systems
29. Desired: Minimum of 2 years experience of working in a production environment
