LLC is a specialist college offering young people aged 16-24 personalised, industry-led training in the most vibrant & exciting creative sectors. The Assistant Principal will work closely with the Principal, SLT, staff, students and families to drive improvement, innovation and strong outcomes across London Learning Consortium. This role requires authentic, inspirational leadership, full alignment with the College’s values, and commitment to delivering its strategic vision.
Main Responsibilities
1. Provide clear vision and leadership for services in Croydon and Ilford, ensuring excellent learner outcomes and experiences.
2. Deliver a high-quality curriculum and student support, with clear intent, implementation and impact.
3. Ensure compliance with legislation, safeguarding, SEND requirements and quality standards.
4. Drive quality improvement and professional development across all teams.
5. Support financial performance to meet agreed targets.
6. Lead and develop staff, promoting welfare and safeguarding for all.
7. Deputise fully for the Principal as required.
Key Tasks
8. Maintain a high-quality learning environment for all, including those with additional needs (SEND, SEMH, MLD, ASD, and those excluded or at risk of exclusion).
9. Contribute to organisational leadership and management, supporting teaching, learning and achievement.
10. Attend Governing Body meetings and ensure statutory duties are met.
11. Manage risk and promote health, safety and wellbeing of staff, students and visitors.
12. Engage in continuous professional development and stay current with policy, sector and curriculum changes.
13. Act as a visible ambassador for the College and uphold values of equality, diversity, safeguarding and integrity.
Person Specification
Qualifications
14. First degree or equivalent (essential).
15. Professional/vocational or higher degree (desirable).
Knowledge & Experience
16. Successful senior leadership in education.
17. Track record of strategic growth, change management and quality improvement.
18. Experience of accountability to a Board/Governing Body.
19. Proven ability to deliver challenging targets and manage £1m+ budgets.
20. Experience of developing high-performing teams and leading large workforces.
21. Knowledge of learner-focused provision and changing patterns.
22. Experience with SEND, funding and inclusion (preferable).
23. External relationship management and ambassadorial skills.
24. Awareness of creative industries and career pathways (desirable).
