Job responsibilities
Job Overview
We seek a candidate who embodies our core values of Trust, Respect, Integrity, and Compassion. This position involves working two days per week at Trust consultant level within community hospitals across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland. You will be a key part of the older persons inpatient service, providing specialist geriatric medical input and working alongside advanced nurse practitioners and multidisciplinary teams. The role aims to develop a geriatric service that manages the complexity of older patients at the interface of acute, emergency, and community services.
Main duties include:
* Providing clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team
* Maintaining responsibility for patient care and ward functioning
* Liaising with GPs, hospital specialists, community services, and other agencies
* Managing administrative duties related to patient care and service operation, including prioritizing caseloads

Person Specification
Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent
* Full GMC registration with a license to practice
* On the GMC Specialist Register
* Higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management
* Additional clinical qualifications
Experience
* Specialist clinical expertise
* Strong clinical skills with a bio-psycho-social approach
* Excellent communication skills in English
* Experience in CPD, research, service evaluation, audit, and quality improvement
* Ability to work in community settings and travel between sites
* Experience within NHS or comparable services, with achievements in education, research, or service improvement
