Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Labourer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic and the ability to communicate effectively within a team environment. This role involves various tasks that require mechanical knowledge of tools used within the timber industry such as mill, circular and flatbed saws and planers and will also include driving duties, such as operating a van or flatbed for deliveries, a forklift truck and a sideloader. The Labourer will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our yard and delivery processes.
Hours are Mon-Fri 8am to 5pm and alternate Saturdays (compulsory) 8am to 1pm
Duties
* Perform general labour tasks including loading and unloading materials.
* Operate Sanders, Saws and Milling Machinery
* Assist customers.
* Operate machinery and equipment safely, adhering to all safety protocols.
* Assist in the organisation and maintenance of the yard and workshop.
* Communicate effectively with team members to ensure efficient workflow.
* Drive vehicles such as vans or flatbeds for delivery purposes.
* Drive and operate forklift trucks and sideloaders.
* Conduct routine checks on equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any issues.
* Support other team members in various tasks as needed to meet project deadlines.
Requirements
* Strong communication skills to interact with team members and supervisors effectively.
* Mechanical knowledge is preferred to assist with equipment operation and maintenance.
* Valid driver's licence with experience in commercial driving is advantageous.
* Previous experience as a delivery driver or in a timber yard setting is desirable.
* Ability to work well in a team environment while also being self-motivated.
* Flexibility to adapt to changing tasks and responsibilities as required.
* Must be able to follow both verbal and written instructions.
* Must have a good level of physical fitness.
