We are developing our service and offering an exciting opportunity for a senior Occupational Therapist who is passionate about working with young people with Learning Disabilities and their families/carers to join our developing team. This is a new service specification with opportunity to lead the implementation and development of the new provision.

Job Summary
To be responsible for the day-to-day co-ordination and management of occupational therapy within the designated clinical area, undertaking a complex, multi-functional role that combines managerial, clinical and professional duties. The post holder will maintain a clinical role for highly complex cases and provide advice and support to other therapy staff and the multi-disciplinary team. The role includes liaising with consultants, medical, therapy and nursing staff, social services, voluntary agencies and the private sector. The content of this job description may be reviewed in line with service developments.
Main duties of the job
* Work within the CAMHS Learning Disability Team as part of a multidisciplinary group to support behaviour and mental health needs of children and young people with LD and their families/carers.
* Assess a wide range of motor, perceptual, sensory and functional difficulties; plan appropriate therapy interventions; deliver individual therapy; provide training and therapy programmes to parents/other professionals; evaluate treatment outcomes.
* Apply knowledge of positive behavioural framework, sensory integration, rights-based approaches, service user engagement, and adapted therapies as appropriate.
* Work autonomously with support from the wider OT network within SWYT; problem-solve and ensure patient safety and outcomes.

Person Specification
Essential
* Ability to risk assess and manage health and safety for own and others’ work areas and caseloads
* Ability to work autonomously; ability to travel around the Trust; flexible to meet service needs (including evenings/weekends)
* Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy; current valid HCPC registration
* Practice Education/Practice Assessor Preparation Certificate (or to achieve within 12 months)
* Evidence of continuing professional development and post-graduate training in relevant area
* Experience supervising and managing staff; extensive post-registration experience in the clinical area
* Excellent communication, leadership, teaching and supervision skills; strong clinical reasoning and time management
Desirable
* MSC/Diploma in relevant area; management/leadership training; risk assessment and audit training
* Basic IT skills

* Compliance with professional standards and ongoing CPD
