Job Overview
The post holder will be responsible for providing consultant input into the care of people open to Conwy CMHT.
All referrals to the community team are managed by a single point of access. A daily meeting decides who the most appropriate person in the service is to see the referred patient. Senior representatives of the primary and secondary care team attend the meeting, and a consultant attends daily.
The post holder is expected to comply with the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010, and may at times attract a junior doctor depending on availability in the training rota.
Main duties of the job
Post holder will provide specialist psychiatric assessment, treatment and management for adults aged 18 and over with serious and enduring mental illness in Conwy. The role involves medical input to patients under secondary care CMHT as required by the care coordinator, and consultation and supervision for Primary Mental Health Services in their catchment area.
The service is needs‑led; the post holder will also manage patients above 65 until transition arrangements are met by the Older Persons Mental Health Services.
The post holder will be based with the CMHT and work with the county manager to ensure clinical leadership of the multi‑disciplinary team, assist with clinical supervision, and help train team members in clinical matters.
The service operates an Acute Care Model with two dedicated inpatient consultants for newly admitted patients. The post holder works collaboratively with Acute Care Services and is responsible for inpatient care when one acute consultant is on leave.
