About This Opportunity:
Are you ready to lead the future of risk management for a growing Markets business with big global ambitions?
Our Corporate and Institutional Bank sits at the heart of this ambition, supporting our clients with their financial needs – and we're on an exciting growth trajectory.
Our Markets business sits within CIB and is a critical part of our value offering, leading complex trading activities that support our clients with their day-to-day risk management needs. As Head of Trading Controls, you'll be the guardian of integrity and resilience, ensuring every trade meets the highest standards of governance and risk management.
This is your chance to influence how we protect our business and innovate for tomorrow. You'll lead an experienced team, collaborate with senior stakeholders and our regulators, and harness innovative technology to design controls that keep us ahead of regulatory expectations and industry protocol.
What you'll be doing:
* Shape the Framework: Design and maintain a robust trading controls framework across pre-trade, trade and post-trade activities - ensuring controls are aligned with regulatory expectations and internal risk appetite
* Stay Ahead of Risk: Be responsible for daily monitoring of trading activity, investigate anomalies, breaches or control failures and ensure swift resolution
* Set the Standards: Build and maintain policies on trade approvals, position limits and blocking issue protocols and ensure these are governed appropriately.
* Drive Innovation: Partner with Technology and Data teams to improve automated controls and surveillance, bringing to bear analytics and machine learning
* Engage and Influence: Provide clear updates to senior management and regulators while collaborating with Front Office, Risk, Compliance and Audit
* Lead with Impact: Build and encourage a high-performing team, promoting a culture of proactive risk management and continuous improvement

Like the modern Britain we serve, we're evolving. Investing billions in our people, data, and tech to transform the way we meet the ever-changing needs of our 26 million customers. We're growing with purpose. Join us on our journey and you will too.
What you'll need:
* Substantial experience in trading environments, strong leadership and regulatory awareness.
* Extensive expertise in trading controls, risk management or front office supervision within a financial institution
* Strong understanding of trading processes, instruments and risks across multiple asset classes
* Familiarity with frameworks such as MiFID II, MAR, EMIR and Dodd-Frank
* Ability to develop effective controls and handle incidents with confidence
* Proficiency in data analysis and experience with trading platforms and control systems
* Exceptional communication and collaborator leadership skills with a track record of leading teams
